Default Wade and Butcher WR restoration

I got a cool Wade and Butcher from the 1830s that was in pretty rough shape. I wanted to save the scales, but they were totally bug-eaten on the inside and the pivot end was toast, so I copied them onto some brown horn, and I think I got it pretty close to what it looked like originally. Original washers, with a somewhat modern blonde horn wedge, though it's hard to see from my camera. Name: WB WR before.jpg

Size: 34.1 KBI left the patina on the blade, as I like that better in general. Just need to hone it up and it will go into the rotation. I did a day soak in oil for the scales before I pinned it, and I think it really made a difference in the shine of them.

Nice pin washers! Where did you get those? I have used similar but those are cool.

Those are the old style washers a lot of razors had in the 1830s. I've had two razors with them, these are originals. Not sure if anyone makes them now, but they shouldn't be too hard to press from brass sheet if you make a die.
