Thanks for the intervention Tc....RAD is a terrible thing, when it hits bad, anything can look attractive....thanks for pulling me out of that shame spiral, like "Beer Goggles", next day you just gotta wonder WTF you were thinking.

I finished honing the razor last night and she took a very nice edge and shaved well, for how long is anyone's guess. After some creative taping I was able to get to the edge without any issues but that tip has an incredible amount of flex in it making getting to the toe very difficult even with the lightest amount of pressure. Despite the crazy curves in the tang it is comfortable to hold, for me anyway. The spread pin thing is an interesting approach and easy to tighten. That said, as far as the steel, this is a typical GD.

I think the first thing someone should do with one is correct the geometry as Ron talked about and make the edge be parallel with the grind along the spine. After removing all that belly, then you might have a chance of honing it properly. I can see a LOT of work with one of those...which takes know-how. Have fun iwth it!

I have ordered one of the GD W-59 razors. I watched a few YouTube videos on how it hones and shaves and the reviews were generally positive. One of the videos suggested several layers of tape on the spine. Its worth a shot. I will keep you updated on this adventure. I look forward to hearing from others.

I had ordered one and this one looks fine, it comes shave ready, the geometry is correct with few bad aesthetics issues. shaves very well and feels fine in the hand. I got luck.
