Good to see this thread still up and going. I will wait for a few more months before I conglomerate all the info into my initial post.

Also, if you do happen to be in Darwin, they have just open a Shave Shop in Casuarina Shopping Square. Just in case you need a tub of Proraso, since everything else there is over priced and pointless for a straight shaveman. A place in the city called Alfreds also sells Dovo razors at their usual price.

+1 for Lie-Nielsen Toolworks Australia | Home and Men's Biz | Men's Skin Care and Shaving Products

Both have very fast shipping, although I thought it somewhat strange that Lie-Nielsen don't actually calculate postage costs prior to purchasing. It wasn't a problem anyway, as postage was very reasonable and lightning fast.

Aussie hand made scuttles. Good reviews in other places and also have other lathering bowls.

If anyone knows of other places that make shaving bowls/scuttle, please post as I intend on having one soon.
i just bought a glossy black quantum scuttle! nice to see this sort of stuff, expecially from australia

    +1 for Shave Shack

Good service, fast shipping, and, to my knowledge, the only place selling the awesome Fitjar soap in Australia

Well I wouldn't go bandy-ing that particular term around regarding this bloke, but Oz (Onimaru55) in Sydney is a dab hand at whacking an edge on a razor. You start applying those big german names to him, and he might get a swelled head . And we can't have that, no sirree . Also someone that may be able to help is Legion, but I'm not exactly sure if he's in Melbourne or Canberra these days...Or neither of the aforementioned.

Cheers Mick, actually I don't think I need anything special, the Razor is new and I just want to make sure it is shave ready. Would really prefer a quick turnaround. I might try my local barber, he may have a clue.

I can certainly vouch for that. He's honed two of my razors so far, and he did a superb job on both. Top bloke as well.

How quick a turn around are you after, I reckon a return express post parcel to Oz might get you your razor back within about three days (depending on Oz's work schedule 0f course.) Just send a PM to Oz to see what he can do. A new razor with a factory edge will most likely need a better finished edge to it, and it isn't a great, time consuming task to achieve that. It will need to be done though, I know from personal experience. I also know Oz will put an unbelievably sharp edge on a razor, again personal experience. I don't know how many barbers would still have the required skills to hone a razor in Australia, but you never know. Try the barber, as there is never harm in asking.

Cheers again Mick, I think I will try the Barber and if he doesn't instil confidence I will PM Oz.
