There are no bad malts imo.

Personally I generally prefer the malts that were not made on the mainland of Scotland. I prefer the Islands whiskies. They usually have more outspoken tastes.
Imo Springbank 10 yr old is the best whisky if you want to get an idea of what a Malt should aspire to.

And it should fit well within your budget.
God does that ever sound good.

Unfortunately MY wife doesn't like whisky (you lucky dog) so I am limited in my ability to enjoy much of it.

I have been drinking 3 or 4 fingers of the glenvilet 12 since I got it on tuesday. It is good stuff. At that rate the bottle is not going to last long though. This could get expensive, I may need to slow it down a little.
