Thread: Pipe tobaco

Now that I have some gray hair I feel I wont look silly smoking a pipe. I remember years ago I had a boss who smoked one and the smoke smelled so nice. very sweet and rich. anybody recomend a tobaco? ps I'm drug tested randomly at work lol!

Check out this site here and the 'pipe of the day' thread. You'll find a lot of examples of what guys are smoking in there. I favor GL Pease Robusto, Blackpoint, Haddo's Delight and Gawih & Hoggarth Rum Flake as my mainstays.

The link that Jimmy sent is an excellent site with tons on info and I've lurked there for years. If you are unfamiliar with pipe tobaccos in general be advised that pipe tobaccos are as different from each other as anything you can imagine. Simple burley blends, Virginia/Perique, Latakia mixes, sweet aromatics, they all have their charms for different smokers. If you try one you don't like don't give up. It's like a giant candy store out there and there's something for everyone. Have fun!

+1 what Jimmy said. Giving recommendations is difficult because different people like different tobaccos. Candy (aromatic) tobaccos have very pleasant, "social" scent so they are ok if you have non-smokers around.
If you have a tobacco store in town, you can ask for samples for various different mixtures and find the one(s) that you like.
I favor Capstan Original Navy Cut, Erinmore Flakes and some Samuel Gawith and Peterson blends (those are also easily available here so i do not have to order them online).

without knowing about what you used to smoke, if you smoked, ect, it's kinda like asking me to find you a gf without know if you're a leg man or if you like redheads over blonds...it can be done but it's easier with some extra info.
