Thread: Grunge era

Upon realizing that some of us had come of age in the 'grunge' era, being the early to mid 1990's, it made me realize that the seminal 'grunge' (I use this term lightly) band Nirvana had their hit "Smells Like Teen Spirit" nearly 20 years ago. Without further ado:

You and me both. I was in high school from 91 to 95, even though i was more of a Pearl Jam fan. It still messes with my head that this apparently revolutionary song was part of 'my' generation. But now it's 2 decades old.

grunge unfortunately became a marketing term for anything out of seattle, pearl jam, AIC, soundgarden, all sounding completely different. I was a kid of that era, i liked ealry nirvana, then they appeared on the 92 MTV music awards and suddenly became big amongst everyone. So i stopped liking them because it got old, how grunge is that

I will say this for nirvana, they levelled the playing field and killed off hair metal lol

Very true, hair metal was dying a really painful death. I was a huge Alice In Chains fan, and still am. I think they survived the grunge era pretty well. I still like Soundgarden, as well. But now I'm starting to sound like someone smitten with nostalgia!

I was in the lucky situation to live in Seattle during the Grunge era.
Those were the times.....

I was in seattle ~4 years ago and it appeared to still be in the Grunge era.
