Series 70 1911

Hey guys,

There seem to be a few fellow gun nuts on here so I thought I would post a pic of a job I recently finished. This was sent to me as a stock series 70. I did all the gunsmithing, polishing, made the grips (fossil mammoth) and did the engraving and gold inlay. The only thing I didn't do was dip it in the bluing tanks. A gunsmith friend of mine who has a nice bluing set up did that for me.

Thanks guys,

The engraving is done with chisels called gravers that are ground specifically for cutting metal. There are no rotary tools, photo etching or lazers on my engraving bench. Its all actually cut.

Eisen Faust, there is a very good engraver in Christchurch, New Zealand named Andrew Biggs.

Andrew is a super nice guy and if your interested in engraving it would be worth contacting him. I don't know how close you are to Christchurch but Andrew is the only engraver I know in NZ.
