Hey Mike, I've been wanting to give this a try. How is the JD Honey? Does the honey come through as with Drambuie and such, or is just an added sweetness?

Both are fine bottles of Scotch. I had a bit of Japanese whiskey this weekend, 18 year old Yamazaki. I have not decided on what I'll be having this weekend, maybe a new bottle.

Best thing I can tell you is that i find it a bit spicy with kind of a fermented honey or cidery element to it. The bourbon taste is not as alcoholic as the Gentleman Jack but sweeter with a bit of woody flavour. I am by no means a connoisseur of whiskey, scotch or bourbon but i find it milder than most which allows me to drink it straight up rather than mix it. I find it goes really nice with a cigar so it fits the bill for me

Currently working through a Yamazaki 12. I'd been wanting to try the Japanese single malts for some time.

I dare not keep more than one bottle in the house at a time...

I've never had a Japanese whiskey. It's on the list.

I think the JD Honey is good, but too sweet. The honey gets in the way. I like it more as a mixer or over ice when it's warm out.

The last single malt Scotch I drank was The Balvenie Doublewood. About 12 years ago, my father had visited Scotland, and brought back a regular 12 year old Balvenie Scotch. That bottle he brought back taught me how good scotch can be. Nothing I've tasted since has been as good. I think the Doublewood is close. I drink it ... and think about good things I remember with my dad.

Well today was my birthday so I decided to have a couple of glasses of scotch. I went with 2 18 years. Highland park 18 year and Macallan 18 year

I have the 12 and the 18, the 12 is better.

The Japanese is quite good. The Yamazaki 12 is a very nice, light scotch.
