    Default Rust and annealing

What happens to rust when you anneal steal? Do you need to remove the rust first before doing this? Does it matter? I have an old file that rusty and not much use as a file anymore. Should I use something like Naval Jelly first?

    Thanks,
    Ed M.

I do not know what happens to rust when it gets annealed. I do not think it would matter.
How are you going to anneal it?

    Don't worry about it.
Your just going to grind it off afterward anyway.

I don't know how yet. I'm just considering it. If I did move forward with it, it would be way off in the future.

    Thanks for the information.
