Default Need a tool for making scales

I'm looking for a small hammer to use on a small anvil. I want to start making my own scales and can get a piece of iron to use as the anvil but need the hammer to put the pins in the scales. I searched hobby supplies on line but came up empty. Any suggestions?

Oh sorry for laughing so much, BUT, this is how it begins. I need a hammer. I need a saw. Now I need belt sander .

Actually you can probably get a small hammer from Lowes and such.

You can get the hammer (I use a 4oz. ball peen) at most any hardware store. Just make sure to polish the peening head. I got my little anvil at Rio Grande (a jewelry supply place...they have lots of tools to help with this most addictive of endeavors).

LOL.. As I read this, I started to think abotu the Movie the JERK.. " All I need is this light..that it...well and this ...LOL.

I started out the way though... All I need is a Dremel to polish the blades
All I need is this grinder to work more efficiently.
All I need is this bench vice with anvil, and a ball peen hammer.
Well I am pretty far gone now, cause I have almost a whole shop...LMAO.
This takes RAD to a competely different level.

BTW.. 4 oz ball peen hammer can be had at Sears. but don't stop at the hammer, cause the list is long.
Maybe someone should make a sticky, of All I need!!!!

I'm afraid if someone were to do that, it'd use up all SRP's server space.

For an anvil just about any flat piece of steel will do. If you have a steel distributor just go there and ask for a cut off piece, a "drop". Any small piece will do for peening pins.
