Only thing I would add is don't forget about the little things. Like hows it going to feel when I'm stropping the razor.
My guess is the high-set tails may cause a problem with gripping the razor went you strop it.

You think so? If it were a shorter tail I would agree, but i thought I left the tang long enough that the high tail wouldn't be a problem. I'll play around with some and imagine the shapes like these. You may be right

I went too far on the first one. The sides were uneven, and when trying to even it out, I kept bending the edge, and eventually ruined it. Not by much, but it won't ht well and it isnt quite even. I'm working on a 1095 one now. Not nearly as well annealed, so it is much slower to work. This seems to be good, however, as I am able to keep the grind more evenin this one. I learned alot from my first failure
