What a coincidence! My nickname from 15 on was animal too, but for very different reasons.

No beard for this boy until I was in my late 20's. To this day I shave twice a week and look decent.

I'm 50 and still can't grow a full beard; never had a mustache or beard, except the one time I tried to grow a goatee, an attempt I finally aborted at week three mainly to avoid the mocking of my wife and kid.

As luck would have it, it is just enough to require shaving, but not enough to grow decent. My left cheek has more bald spots than my left, and have no hair below the soul patch to the chin.

I believe I was around 22-23 when my beard was fully developed.
For 20 years that was an object of frustrasion, then I discovered straights... :-)

I'd say I was about 23. I seem to remember being old enough to buy beer for at least a couple of years before I could grow a full beard.

You know, I think this is the first time I've ever read anything about the age a man can grow a full beard. Someone should do an official survey nationwide or something. I think it's interesting that most seem to have experienced full beard growth into their twenties, which is exactly when we are supposed to become men. That's when, generally speaking, school is over (if you went to college), or you get out of the army, etc. And before now, I've never really considered the link between actual physical maturity and the legal age of maturity (or whatever they call it).

At 30 my beard does not grow in thick/even enough to grow out a sweet beard, but grows fast/thick enough to look like shit if I do not shave every day.

I'm glad people have found this to be an interesting thread . I think growing beards and shaving are closely linked, what with grain direction, thickness, etc. so it's important to know what your beard is like to be the most proficient shaver you can be.
