Default Fun at the Barber Shop

    I did something fun today.

I took a dozen or so straight razors to my barber to share the hobby we all love so much and to show off some of my work. My barber only uses a disposable blade straight and was quite enthralled with handling some “real” old time straight razors. He ultimately cut my hair and shaved the back of my neck with one of my Wade &Butchers. Pretty darn cool if you ask me. If only I had someone take a picture. Oh well.

On the way out my barber mentioned that he does full facial straight razor shaves, something that I didn’t realize he did. I’m going to hone a few razors to perfection, skip my morning shave, and treat myself to the ultimate luxury next time!

    Thanks for reading.

Very cool barber indeed. Hopefully he is trained well! Let us know how it went.

Very nice! Makes me curious if Barbers who do straight shaves would welcome you to bring your razor for
    them to use.

    Brian,

You'll be impressed I think by the shave from a good barber, it's an experience in shave prep! I can think of a good razor to let him use . . . :-)

So far the people at Truefitt and Hill said I could bring my own razor as well as another barbershop closer to my apartment called Floyds 99. Once I unwrap my hones on christmas I plan on bringing one of my newly sharpened razors to Floyds to see how good of a job they do.

I always bring my own razors to my Barber when I get a hair cut. They use them to trim around my ears and the back of my neck. The older guy has a great touch with my razors but will not give me a full shave. The younger guy gave me a complete shave. He did OK but didn't have the touch of the older Gent. The straights do make for good conversation. If you bring your straights the Barbers prefer round points or muted square points. A good barber will round off the point on their replaceable before using them to reduce the risk of cuts.
