I unfortunately missed the beginning of the story but I tuned in just in time to see that Mr. Gillette was trying to sell something or other and his bosses told him he needed not a quality product that people could use for years but a disposable one that would make his customers slaves to his product. He got a brainstorm while shaving one morning and cut himself with his straight and the DE safety razor was born. Interesting that his prime motivation was basically greed, and still is for that company as far as I'm concerned. And today we live in a disposable world, everything is made to wear out and be thrown away.
