Howdy,
On Oct. 18-19, I attended the 5th Shaving Collectible Meeting hosted by Jerry Rosenthal of ShaveWorld.org in West Chester, OH. What a great get together and opportunity to meet some super people. I did a short presentation on straight razors with Larry Kraayenbrink out of Sioux City, Iowa and there were also great presentations on Gillette and Schick displays by Arik Dvir, Rolls and Stroppers by Tom Willard, safety razor variatons by Al Zimmer and some other really interesting topics. There were over 30 people in attendance from all over the country. There were a couple of barbers in attendance including Frank Hostetler from OH who put to bet the question regarding the barbers notch in straight razors. He says the notch was made to assist in opening the straight razor.
Larry's collection is huge. Take a look at the pics and that is only a small part. He says these are mostly his duplicates and for sale razors. I thought Tim had a lot of razors.
There were great store displays of vintage shaving products as well as some great collections. I got to see a huge steel straight razor display and a couple of early sharpenign wheels.
This was a great event and I'll have to go back next year to get to see all of the wonderful people I got to meet. Maybe we'll combine a get together for next year.
Enjoy the pictures.
Lynn
