I should chime in... don't have the funds right now for the iron bit, but I think I can swing the time and gas money to see a bunch of friends and talk razors. Can't wait to put a date on my calendar, and see you all!

    Ben,

I am trying to figure out how to make this event. I will be in Atlanta the weekend before this. In any case, If I drive to you, can you help me drive up to Mike's? I'll take care of the gas. Need to find a motel room too.

    Thanks

I'd be happy to drive up! Let's chat about this in the next week, plan the when/where/how of it... sounds like a lot of fun to me!

    Hi Mike
Any info on a cheap motel would be appreciated. Will this be 2 days or 3?

Randy and I were thinking of a 2-3 day event, but there's room in the shop to run two overlapping events. We could start the damascus class a day ahead and then overlap the last day with the "clean" razor stuff. If Lynn's coming even I want time to pick his brains a little. If we go with that schedule, then it only takes two days, Saturday and Sunday, or Friday and Saturday. I'm going to be flexible about this because I think a lot of folks will want to not be forging stuff while the honing demos are cooking. Everybody who wants to be there needs to speak up about what they want to see.

I can get a group through simply welding up a billet in a day. If all we do is making pattern welded steel, it's not a complicated day, just hot hard work. We will do basic pattern stuff, random, linear which are the basis for all others. Then if there is time, we can move on to developing other patterns but I will keep those simple too. Some of how far we go, also depends on what sorts of tooling are available at your shop at your home and how far your project billet needs to be worked so you can work it more at home. Not everyone can work simultaneously so there will be time to drift between each side to watch or socialize. I expect everyone in the PW class to leave with about a ten pound piece.

I have two folks signed up on my end. I need a firm head count for the rest.

    Mike,

Do you have me down for the get hammered? Yes? Good. Not yet? Please add. Hey, did Mjolnir have curved claws? Straight claws and a milled face? Or am I just grasping at straws? AKA Plumb? Still grasping?

    Bruce
