I have taken up cooking breakfast for my family every Sunday morning. My wife requested crepes for next sunday. My question is twofold. 1) Does anyone have a good crepe recipe and 2) What is normally served as a side with crepes? Home fries? Bacon? anything? Enquiring minds need to know.
I am guessing I should not depend on this user group for immediate information
Crepes, 1 1/2 C Flour 1 Tbsp sugar 1/2 tsp. Baking Powder 1/2 tsp. Salt 2 C Milk 2 Eggs 2 Tbsp Oil 1/2 tsp vanilla Mix until smooth(a blender will work), pour a scant 1/4 C into greased skillet. Serve with strawberries and cream. I usually just powder them with powdered sugar or even granulated sugar or jam. They are also good filled with chicken, broccolli, cheese, mushrooms and a mix of cream of chicken and cream of mushroom soup. Bake(to melt cheese, everything is cooked before putting together) and enjoy. A trick I saw on food network is to turn the frying pan over and using the bottom to cook on, it makes the crepes easier to turn since they wont be down in a hole but up on a hill. Good luck.
Ya it's not easy to find like on other forums. If you want to do them regularly you may want to get a crepe pan, I don't use mine nearly as often and I'd like but glad I have it Fresh fruits and such is more in line with Crepes, short of savory dinner crepes
