I'm a new guy starting out, so I'm interested in the opinions of the seasoned pipers. What's your favorite tobacco? So far, I like Dan's blue note and a Celtic blend that Holli4 sent me. But I'm nowhere naming a winner, as I still have lots to check out.
At the moment, I think my favorite may be the match to Dunhill's Early Morning that I just found, but I'm also a big fan of Gentleman's Blend (another in house from my local shop). The Celtic that Oglethorpe mentioned is: Celtic Morning: Virginia and burley are masterfully blended with honey and vanilla. Perique is added to provide just the right amount of balance. That particular blend was a hit with another member too. I've run out of what I had, but I'm off to get some more to send to this other member.
my favorite blend is from my home town tobacconists burlington on whyte ave in edmonton and its call chocolat noir
G'day Gents, we can no longer get private blended tobacco here in Perth WA, so generally smoke Borkum Riff cherry cavendish, next is Murrays Erinmore Flake, which you have to hand rub before loading your pipe. Cheers and Merry Christmas to all Gordon
My all around favorite is probably Gawith, Hoggarth & Co. Bob's Chocolate Flake.
Currently I'm more of an Aromatic smoker. My "go-to" everyday smoke is Orlik's Alsbo Black, a black cavendish. However, the finest think I've smoked to day is Savinelli's Black Cavendish. Delicious! I also like to try something different from time to time. I've tried Peterson's University Flake and liked it. I'm eager to try some english blends soon. Fortunately I'm moving to a country where I can find more tobaccos to choose from! I know there's a fantastic tobaconist in Brussels... Maybe I can get my hands on some Dunhill Nightcap or even the very famous Early Morning... In Portugal there is one big inporter that "decides" what everyone smokes. This day, Portugal only smokes Orlik products. It is virtualy inpossible to find Dunhill, Davidoff or even Peterson without crwaling over briken glass and paying for the desired tin with an arm and a leg. If it's Dunhill you might even have to throw in your daughter! Fortunately I have no daughters...
I'm enjoying some Pipeworks and Wilke blends at the moment, and they're proving to be outstanding. For favorites out of these, I'd say the #191 for an aromatic and the Nut Brown Burley for non.
Gents, looks like the smoking room is a little neglected, my fault as well. I have been purchasing Samual Gawith Cherry from 4noggins in the States, I get two tins at a time every couple of months and they have been getting through customs without a problem, guess they will eventually nail me, it is a great smoke. cheers Gordon
