Great advice! I do like stone to be 3" wide (my King is a little narrower, the Nubatama is definitely wide enough). I'm not too worried about staining, but its nice to know that its a possibility. I generally use the Naniwa 2k Green Brick, Green Brick Of Joy, Aotoshi 2k Green Brick after whatever 1k I use and it is also green (and MASSIVE) and haven't had any issues yet. It gets a nice polish started quickly and feels nice and smooth. IMO it leaves a finer scratch pattern than the Norton 4k. Thanks again guys!! With this move support for the Chosera it sounds like a sure thing!

BTW, the BEST 1K stone is one that you know how to use to set a proper bevel. You can have the absolute best stone & it won't do the work for you...so actually, knowledge & experience is the best

My vote goes for Sigma select 1.2k
I was between the chosera and this one, they are the same in performance, as long as the steel is not too hard (the harder the steel, the better the SS 1.2k performs). But, I chose this one because, I don't want to be constantly afraid to leave the stone in water a few minutes more, and clean it right after honing as soon as I can. And always away from the sun. No hairline cracks, you can leave in in the water for years, or boil/bake it, and nothing will change. A big plus. But it absorbs water like the king stone, not exactly splash and go.
