    Default Best 1k stone?

I'm just curious as to what you guys think is the best (or more precisely, your favorite) 1k stone. I have 2 currently a Nubatama 1k and a King 1k/6k combo. I LOVE the nubatama on knives but I'm finding it way too porous for razors. I sharpen knives on a sink bridge but use a regular stone holder sitting at a table for razors. Adding water almost continuously on the sink bridge isn't a problem but constantly spraying to keep the stone wet at the table is annoying. This is after an hour or more soak as well. I just tried the King stone last night for S and G's and found it much easier to keep wet at the table (with only a 20 min or so soak). It didn't cut incredibly fast but it was smooth and held moisture quite well. Thats my story...looking forward to the input!!

p.s. I know that Shapton glass would be the spalsh and go answer, but I am afraid that would be a new 'rabbit hole' that I don't really want to go down :P I have all the stones I need and don't think I can convince the GF that an entire set of Shaptons is necessary

I'm about to purchase my first 1k and from what I've gathered jmac is on point! The Chosera 1k is one of the best. I used a friends and it produced great results and fast!

Chosera 1k is a great stone. Cuts fast and leaves smoother scratches than some others IMO, doesn't dish much and its splash and hone.

I like the naniwa super stone it's nice and soft and does a great job. They also cut pretty quick. I got mine and the naniwa super stone 12k from straight razor designs at the same time and I love them.
    Thank you,

What an interesting question. Most threads are about finishers or progressions. 1K is so versatile.

I have to agree with the Chosera recommendation. The King is fine but very slow, as you found. The Chosera is much, much faster and if HAD does set in, a 1-5-10K set of Choseras is all you'll ever need so you won't totally break the bank.
