    Default Nakayama Hatanaka Maruka Kiita

I got this amazing stone in the mail yesterday. Alex Gilmore of thejapanstone.com helped me select a stone that I could pass down to future generations of my family. It is incredible and he provided amazing service and assistance in picking a premium razor hone.

The stamps are clear, crisp, and vintage. I will get a better picture of the Maruka stamp when I home. The one in the montage I got from his site is hard to see, but it is very clear and in the correct position.

Needless to say, I am extremely happy.

Wow! That is quite some hone. A good few generations worth of honing there.

That really looks like a great hone and stones from Alex are always of best quality and beyond any doubt. Congrats on that beauty!

Thanks everyone! I'm very excited to try it out. First I have to take many many pictures because the stamps will be gone after an initial lapping but it will be worth it. He included two Tomos with the stone. One softer one harder. I am thinking about using them as a progression of sorts. Starting with the softer and progressing to the harder. Then probably trying pure water to see how it goes. My other Nakayama has given me very nice results on water only for final finishing.

Here's a picture of the Maruka stamp. It was very hard to see in the other picture.

    Would you call it fast?
I assume all the premium stones are fast.

Beautiful stone. Are you planning to seal it?
