Thread: Eschers for sale?

Howdy all,

I came across this site today Original Escher Stone - Sharpening Stone from Germany
And they say they have eschers and thurigans for sale?

My questions is if these stones are so prized how come they haven't sold out of them already? Or are these stones not comparable in quality?

they are not the real ones.
Allegedly those are from the same rock, but from experience I can tell you they are nowhere near a real Escher.

So they are not as good finishers as the originals then?

no they are not. Now there are variations since they are naturals but I have heard from a few people the same thing that I posted, not comparable to vintage Escher or Thuringian.

+1. Stefan's correct. These are not original Escher's. Most of the originals have old labels on them, usually with a Grail cup, and E and Co in it. Some came in wooden hinged boxes, or cardboard boxes with a label, and you hit the nail right on the head.
Why aren't they sold out....

Regarding to the picture, i´d say they are the same as sold on this site:

That´s just my personal assumption, because the picture is the same. Anyway, I´ve read in another forum(B&B, as far as I remember) that they like them(bought at MST)

If you want to try one, buy them there --> much cheaper and there seem to be at least some people liking them.

Eschers were cut and sold by the Escher company. To claim those hones are Eschers is just plain fraud. Those are NOT Eschers.

I had two MST, one Vintage Thuringian and one Escher (which I thought was a vintage thuringian )

The MST are quite ok, the big black ones are may be around 8000 grit, and the small grey a little higher. BUT the grit of the Escher or the VT feels much higher and gives better edger (both regarding sharpness and smoothness).

I have only the Escher now...the other ones are sold

The big MST, sometimes, have pyrite inclusions. So if you are planning to buy one of them be sure to get one free from such inclusions.

nobody knows where the stones come. But we know in Germany, they do not come from Thuringia. There are no more stones in Thuringia. No more. Buys the name Escher and Thuringian and sued all
