Thread: What do you mean Chinese 12k stone?

    I have this greenish stone ,it is cheap.
    I have used it but I do not think it is good comparing with Japanese whestone 3k/1k. In my opinion , it is just similar to #800.
    However , some Hong Kong people think that initally grinding , the muddy fuild produced will help for further honing ,but I do not think so .

    You are probably thinking about the

    Chinese Guangxi polishing hone (#3 from left in the picture).
    I got mine from Woodcraft.

    Otto, let me guess what the others are (from left to right):
    1) BBW/Coticule combo
    2) Norton 4k (appears that it might be a combo 4/8)
    3) duh, Chinese 12k
    4) vintage Thurry or Escher, not really able to tell.

    I'm just winging it, of course, but am I anywhere near right?

    3) Chinese Guangxi polishing hone aka. Ch.12k
    4) Osaki Japanese natural finishing hone
