    Default 330mates new diamond plate

330mate is selling a new diamond plate:

    330mate

According to him, this plate is very tough and
even better than Atoma. He also told me that
he will be selling a very flat diamond gold plate
    in the future.

The plate in the picture comes in a perforated
180grit and 600 grit continiuous. Cost about
16 euros(20 USD) for one plate.

The plate is very thin and comes with double sided
tape to glue/stick it to a very flat plate. The cheapest
and easiest would be to use float glass.

Perhaps use some waterresistant glue to prevent
the possibility of water creeping under the plate. I
think somebody did this to his atoma plate.

I think shipping would be very cheap as the plate
    is so light.

Has anybody tried it? I might get the 180 for flattening
my 1000 grit stone and the 600 for 3000grit and up.

Better than the Atoma is a pretty tall order, but for that price it would be good to try and you could always use it for something. If you get it I will be looking for a review. I bought a cheap one but not from 330mate a couple of years ago that I dress out my Tormek 4k wheel. It is still going strong. It won't see any razor honing though.

    Hey King,

Did you get the diamond gold plate. I got that one quite a while ago
and it is still going strong, but the plate is not flat so it is not useful
    for flattening waterstones.

It is a smaller plate with yellow gold composite material inbetween. I never tried flattening stones with it and don't think it would be too good for that. I only use it for deglazing 10'' wheel.

I think there are other reputed seller wich have nice products...
A diamond plate if used for lapping must be high quality in order to avoid diamonds "travelling" over the stone. If used for honing quality is even more relevant.
I won't try to save money on this product. Maybe you can find an atoma or DMT for a good price in all the other well known sellers where you will get a good quality product without opening a pandora box...

Someone already tried these lappers? I was thinking of buying one of each to complement my DMT. The coarser for heavy duty lapping, and the 600 for smoothing out the occasional natural and barbers hones.

Before buying anything from 330mate I advice to read his feedback. I made one purchase from him and was lucky to get my money back afterwards. But I know few people who received garbage from him.

Thank for the warning, I think I will leave them alone then.

    Ahem.

"Garbage," meaning the refuse that people throw away because it has no value or use, is what they got, because that is what is being sold.

    I hope that's indirect enough...

I've never dealt with him, but I know of people who've gotten great (direct communication and more money), good (good luck), ok (ok luck), and terrible (bad luck) stones from him for both razors and knives. It seems that it depends on your luck, desire to communicate directly with him, and your budget.
