Gentlemen. Another Vintage Norton Razor Hone up on Ebay. How high will she go?? Nobody knows!!!

Boy these guys are getting expensive. Anybody using one for razors amongst us?

Yeah, I am.
It is an interesting little stone.
When used after an already highly polished razor, it gives a scary sharp result.
I believe hi_bud_gl tested this a good while ago, and came to the same results as I have done recently.

So this little hone I recently saved from the savage axe-men, will stay right here

What side is the finer? And what would you compare it to?

The dark one is the finer. (with the logo)
The brown side is 3-5K ish. but very fast.

It's hard to compare it to any normal finisher or hone really.
Compared to my three line swaty, I can easily claim it to be quite a bit finer.
It is, as other barber hones, super fast.
There is nothing very special about it really, it is simply a good solution when a barber hone is needed.
The only odd thing about it, is the effect I described above, it leaves an already finished razor extremely sharp.
Too sharp to be honest.
I've had to mellow the edge down with CrO to be able to shave with it.
It wasn't harsh at all, just super super sharp after 5-6 very light laps. I used lather on it.

For this big money one can buy whole progression of stones. Artificial and natural. Both.

That could be said for many sought after vintage hones. Plus it is the axemen that drive the prices up on this particular stone. It is their holy grail of hones.

I guess those who buys a Norton barber hone probably already have bought a progression or two. Of both....
