Thread: Question on which hone to by

I am planing on just maintaining my razors previously honed by a honemiester. I was wondering if I should get a 10k, 12k or something different. I have been shaving since last November and have sent my first razor to get re-honed from SRD and am using my other. I was hoping to be able to maintain my razors by my self from here on out unless something catastrophic happens to them. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

You could go with a 10 or 12k, such as a Naniwa Superstone or Chosera. You could do a coticule. Another option that is cheaper is a decent barber hone like a Swaty or one of its many clones, or one of many other great barber hones.
