Thread: Help with stone identyfication needed.

Could anyone help to identificate this stone.I have a guess but i'm looking for your opinion. Dimension are 18X10 cm. Here are some pics.

Hi i think it looks like a belgian blue whetstone pinky purple slurry and all.

I thought so as well but now i think it could be a Thuringian. I found a pics of similiar stone on other forum with such description.

It does look like some type of slate. I don't think it's Thuringian but if it is congrats.

The edges of the surface. You only need to round the edges a little. The bevels on my stones are about 0.5mm wide and only bigger if the edges are chipped.

Your bevel looks like it may have been chamfered at a 45 degree angle and a couple of mm in width. With such a large surface as your stone has it really doesn't matter but with a narrow stone it would have. Just thought I'd let you know

Actually its not my stone. One of a members of polish wet shaving forum asked a question about that stone. I just want to help to find an answer, what kind of stone is that. I found a pics of similliar stone in here. It looks pretty the same.

TheZ' stone is smaller than this one. Other than the 5x2.5" stones I have not seen Thuringians wider than 2".

Look like a Welsh slate for me, I think to have one too,but I havent learn it.
