Default Hone info and lapping info

Got a hone today from the local antique store but it has me puzzled. The box is a Wardlow but the hone inside says Harvard. I was wondering if anyone has any info on this stone and if swaty, wardlow, and this hone are the same(they look it to me)? Also, I was wondering what lapping is and its process?

    Thanks

First, some pics might be necessary to answer your first query.

Second, lapping is simply the process of flattening a hone with another abrasive surface. In the Wiki there are many videos that may help you. I know that Glen recently posted a lapping video that might be most helpful to you.

    Good luck mate!!
