    You're right, I also read that a big difference is that they use clay mixed in as a filler which is probably why they feel smoother like that. Most synthetics are just abrasive and adhesive sintered at high temperatures. If I can find the paper on how kings are made I'll post it. Love the futurama hypno-toad btw.

    Are you guys saying you leave your King 1k submerged in water always, as in all the time, or just prior to your using it?

    All the time. Many put a cap of bleach in the water and change the water once a month.

    The directions say to keep it submerged in water all the time. I do, but I don't feel comfortable using bleach, I just change the water once a week.

    I've never felt the need to keep any of my hones submerged, but I only use them on average once a month. If you don't want to leave them submerged, leave them out to dry for at least a few days to make sure it is completely dry before putting it back in it's box.

    Unless you use it every day , there is no need to leave it in water . I let mine soak for a few hours (or overnight) before I use it .
