Default You never know!!! New stone!!

I got this stone for $15, all i knew is that it is a natural stone and its 8"X 2"1/4, and somebody made a coffin for it.
Looks black as night as you can see on the first pic. After cleaning 1/8 of crud off the honing surface, and using
oven cleaner and boiling it 3 times to get all the oil out of it, i started lapping with wet dry sandpaper on a piece of flat
granite, then finished with a dmt. Im almost 100 % sure its a Hindostan because its really really hard the color is good,
and the obvious layering on the sides. Maybe its a "Magog Oilstone" but ive never seen one marked on read anything
about a magog as far as color, all i know about magog its Novaculite but so are Arkies.Anyway im pleased to have a hindostan, and heard they are a good finisher. Just goes to show you that nasty looking stone after cleaning could turn
out to be a good one!!
