    Default New Find ID

I found this stone today for $4, I wasn't sure what it was when I bought it but after some lapping I am almost positive it's a coticule. The thing is it is much darker than my other one and has speckles all through it. Here's a picture after lapping, I haven't got around to lapping the other side yet but I'm pretty sure it's BBW and it's in really rough shape with about 1/4 of it . Here's some pics.

I lapped the other side just enough to uncover the grain, here's an up close picture.

And here's what the BBW side looks like.

That honestly don't look like coti/bbw combo, that's my opinion. I hope it is though...

It could be a Coticule imo, they come in a wide variety. I seem to make out a grain pattern in both sides and it has a purple and lighter side.

Yes both sides have the same grain as my other one. I have read about some of the very old veins that were mined having these speckles through out. I'll try to find the link to the descriptions of the veins.

Here is the link I was referring to.

It looks more like the end of a Tam O'Shanter vein, the purple stone could be iron or aluminum ore. For only 4$ good choice.
