Thread: hone question

I was thinking if getting an Ozuki or old hard and heavy Japanese finishing stone..but I was wondering..I currently have a Naniwa 12k SS stone..it does its job just fine...but how would one of the stones in the classifieds section be any different other than weight and way of use?

Which stones are you talking about??

I meant in general..do the heavy Japanese stones tend to be a high er grit and give a finer sharper edge or is based on what each person uses and how they use em?

Japanese stones, A.K.A. j-nats, are a field of study by themselves. Far more complex to learn about than other naturals because of the large variety.
