    My two cents is that if the wood is Cedar than the natural oils in the wood should preserve it. Natural Cedar decking will last up to 20yrs and that's untreated and exposed to both water and sunlight. The sunlight deteriorate wood just as water and the temp extremes would.
    I 'd think if one uses Cedar just rinse and dry it normally.
