    Question Welsh Hones?

    Thread

I have been reading through a couple threads on welsh hones because I have seen many of these being posted by the same seller on Ebay. I was wondering which of these was a good finisher if any. I don't really ever see any conclusions in the threads about them. They seemed more threads about look at my new rock. Everyone seemed to be trying them for the first time and I can't find any revisits on their judgment on the hones.

I have been thinking also on whether I would need a finisher on my coti when I deside to start to learn on it. This is why I have been looking into different stones. I do have a Norton 4/8 and plan on staying on it until I think I am ready for naturals. Any input would be nice.

    This one too:
A comparison between the purple and greenish hones from the Tri Hone set

I only have the purple one and am very happy with it as a finisher, lots of others share their experiences in those threads I linked above.

I did find these two but my problem is I was wondering where the stones might lay in honing progression in comparison to other hones and stones. I don't tend to trust grit ratings on naturals. I think it has more to do with composition of the stone, not grit.

The way I understood it was more or less, bevel setter, DT for edge refinement beyond the 6-8k range, then LM + mystery stone for final polishing/finishing.

My "Welsh Turingian" and the purple stone are both great finishers, the Dragons Tongue seems to be in the 5k-8k range
