Ya I feel it on my naniwas. And Scott that was a good description, I fess over honing sent really the term, but it kinda fits as mostly it's just honing to long. Victor what I mean by this and the biggest cause is INEXPERIENCE OR BAD HONING, you were able to keep stroking and nothing happens. Some new guy comes along and his technique sucks and he's heavy handed, and keeps going till he's honed the spine and edge down to a really low angle and it's just not holding up without breaking down. Or he keeps going and somewhere along the way he developed a foil edge and then it crumbles. I,m not in your class of honing, but as aggressive as a naniwa 12k is if you keep stroking away it usually ain't good. This would be why all the really good hone guys don't se many strokes. This ain't a had Arkansas stone that you can hone on for hours. This is a stone that can set a bevel if your up to it. Tc

To really prove it quickly, I'll try to find a Shapton GS 30K. Hopefully with your dry erase and Ron's microscope we can put science to work!
