    Default Henckles trouble.

    Hi all.

I have been working on a Henckles.and I am about ready to pull my hair out over it.

The blade is great except from the toe about a half in back will not take an edge. I have worked it on a 320 a 600 and a 1k. Any thoughts why this may be occurring?

    I am open to suggestions.

you need to figure out what kind of stroke will allow for full contact with the stone.
Use magic marker to determine the stroke.
If you still have problems, I will hone it for you at the cots of return shipping.

What hones do you got? A picture or two would help as well.

Well the series of hones I described are Arkansas stone that use either water or honing solution the 320 is synthetic. I am already looking at getting a couple of Naniwas. A 220 and a 1k to replace the ones I have.

    Will try magic marker tonight.

Exactly what are you wanting to do? If you are using a 320 I hope there was some significant damage you are trying to repair and are now working on the bevel.

There were some chips in the edge. I had to grind those out. I have been sharpening old razors here latley trying to get my skills established (Enrolled in Whipped Dog's Class).

I have been working on the bevel, and last night I went from the 1k to the coti. the tip is looking much better. Magic marker showed even wear on the edge, except for very tip. I have been giving it a slight lift for the tip. Kinda like you would do for a smiling edge.
