Vinco American Hone Co. barber hone
I came across a barber hone marked "Vinco, American Hone Co." with a picture of a ship stamped on it. One side is green, and the other side is red.
Currently, I use a shapton and pasted strop progression (1-4-8k-.5m-.05m). I was wondering what the approximate grit range of this stone might be and if it has a place in my hone system.
I appreciate any input,
Bob

Just a guy with free time.
I'd like to be the first to request a pic of said barber hone. I have 5 barber hones and they all do the same thing as far as I can tell. I won't comment further, cause I don't know squat.

I'll try to find my digital camera so I can post a picture.
I assume the stone is a fairly typical barber hone, but I don't have experience using them. If anyone has a link that provides a good overview of barber hones, I would be very appreciative.
Thanks,
Bob

That Vinco is a pretty old barber hone. Barber hones are good for a quick touch up of an edge that is not shaving as well as it did the last time. If your lucky it might fit in between the 8K and the 0.5 micron abrasive, but I doubt it. Try it and find out.
