Thread: DMT-325

Santa brought me a DMT-325 for Christmas. I've seen it used in most of Gssixgun's videos. It's thin and heavy and I'm guessing hard to hang onto when wet. What is the stone holder I keep seeing in the videos and where can I get one.

Have a look at Amazon for the Steelex hone holder - I have two.
SRD may have them too - I haven't looked

I've seen them on Ebay, and I think Lee Valley Tools sells them also.

The one I saw on SRD is for the Sharptons. I'm not sure if it is the same as Gssixgun uses.

I also picked up one at my local Woodcraft store. They're worth every penny...Especially for holding that thin,heavy, DMT....

DMT is not hard to hold and not slippery when wet, the holder is a great addition to have, it accommodates most all sizes of stones.

I find them indespensible... the DMT 325 and the holders

I have two holders, the same ones Glen uses in his videos. I keep one on my DMT 325 and add one to whichever hone I am using for the razor. They make it easier to lap a stone since you can hold the holder instead of the stone and they also add a platform for the stone you're honing on.

You'll never regret buying the 325, every SR user should have one. I would recommend breaking it in before using it for lapping hones (I believe DMT recommends this as well), as there can be diamond high spots that will scratch your hones. Just try running something across the surface for several minutes. You can either use a screwdriver shank or, more practical, try honing some kitchen knives
