Where is the chip? You may just be able to hone around it. Or over it, depending on what the inner edges are like.

My camera can't really take a good enought picture.
So today I soaked the Norton and the Norton lapping stone and went at it. It took about half an hour, but the chip is gone - it was about half the size of an eraser head on a pencil and about .5mm to 1 mm deep. Lost a bit of the hoen material, but it was pretty much dead in the centre of the stone, and there was no way I could work around it.
Lesson learned....
