hi is this the right stone to buy for lapping a norton 4000/8000. Thanks!

It's a little vague in their description, but I would say no! It sounds like a 120 grit. Much to coarse! This is the correct one, but appears out of stock again, but they tend to get them restocked fairly quickly. DMT 8 Dia-Sharp® Continuous Diamond Coarse - 325 - $46.99 :

DMT also makes a 11" one too in coarse...

If you wonder why DMT is recommended most, it's because they are a good company that produces quality diamond hones. I've also had good luck with EZlap as well...
