Thread: Looking for a local honemeister (Michigan)

I did a search and could only come up with a post of another Michigander looking for a honing mentor so at least I tried the search before I posted.

Anyways, I have run into the dilemma of needing my razor(s) honed. Sending them out to be honed will obviously put me out of commission at the very least a week and I cringe at the thought of going back to disposables. So, I was wondering if there was any honemeisters in southeast Michigan that will allow me to visit them and have my razor(s) honed on the spot. OF course I would be willing to pay for the service but just trying to avoid the shipping and wait.

I have a Dovo best quality that has been used and stropped with the utmost care, so it should be a breeze to hone. This is what I NEED honed. I also have another razor that I found at my grandfather's that would be nice to have fixed up but if it requires anything more than just some strokes on a couple hones then forget it for now.

I live in Warren, about 5-10 minutes outside of Detroit and I am willing to travel to a certain extent as well.

If this is a no-go then so be it, I'll send them out but figured I'd give it a try.

I am not sure if they are honemeisters, but I believe they hone. Alembic is in the Metro Area and might be able to help you out. Undream is in Adrian and I have spent time at his place before. I would say check out the google map, but I have multiple times and those two are my best guess.
