You have sure got lots of help here! I agree with most and think that practising with a cheap old straight on the 4k/8k is a good idea. You should only try to use your dovo on the 12k to maintain the edge. Although your strop should do most of the work to maintain! hope you get it right

I totally agreed, I have gotten great advise and I have kept all of it in my files. I am working to get it right.
