2 Pins or 3

Just wondering what other folks like. I like the 2 pin razor better because for me they open and close better. It seems they center better when closing. Now I know as most folks that a razor is not a pocket knife. you just don't snap it closed. You should guide it every time. After all unlike the pocket knife the razor is a specialty tool and should be treated as such but it would be interesting how others think.

Although I have both styles, I have no preference functionally or visually. I have a 2-pin and a 3-pin to be rescaled, I’ll rescale each using the original pin count.

like you, I close all razors equally carefully. I wonder if 3-pin models represented companies’ more classy offerings.

I have both & like both. If a razor came with two I would leave it that way same with a razor with 3 pins.

I'm not looking at you !
The only one I had was a Dubl Duck Goldedge. Looked nice in the 'cracked ice' scales. I'm not sure the functionality was different. I think was just a marketing idea in the 1900+ blades to make some them stand out more than others. I don't remember seeing any three pin scales prior to 1900. Anyone have any pre-1900 three pin scales?

If you re-pinning a three pin scale, certainly the extra pin is better that a hole!

From what I have read and seen the third pin did not come about until sometime around the 1930's...

As long as its pinned tight, I'm happy. 2 or 3 have some of both some 3's are sloppier than my 2's and can bite the scales if careless. I probably need to re pin some of them cuz I cant get em any tighter.
