5 Razors I've been honing.

I've been experimenting with the last hone #15000 whetstone with the spine taped. Makes a nice double bevel.

I have never liked putting tape on my razors. If they are honed the way they should be hone wear should not be a problem. Get them sharp and keep them that way!

I agree. Sometimes the edges need a 1k stone to set a good bevel maybe even bread knifing. By the time you get the edge right, you'll have some wear on the spine. It just looks better when you don't have that spine wear. There are also blades that the grind is off enough that it takes more effort to get a good bevel and the wear on either side of the blade will be different. Sometimes, pronounced. It's mostly cosmetic, but who doesn't want their blades looking better at the end of the adventure.

Why would you want a double bevel? I have always honed them away.

I was under the impression they were bad also. I've never had to deal with it. of course I don't do very many
