I keep looking for a hone that is second to an Escher but not as expensive. There's no way I could justify the cost of an Escher but what would come close without the cost. What do ya'll think. I had what I think was an Escher back in the 70s but some one liked it more than me and It came up missing out of my tool box. I acquired it from a yard sale and had no Idea what it was just that it was a very good hone. how about it what's ya'lls thoughts on this question.

I have an Escher and to be honest its a one trick pony. It takes an already really sharp edge and makes it magically more comfortable to shave with. I really dont think they are worth the price of admission these days. Unless you can get one for a reasonable price, I wouldn't chase one at any cost. Try a Black or translucent Ark as a final finisher to make an edge nice and face friendly. Most final finishing stones are only gonna be as good as the groundwork leading up to it, just icing on the cake.
