Thread: Preferred blade size for the Ladies

I was wondering what size blade is preferred. I sometimes come across 3/8 and 4/8 blades during my market searches and usually pass on these. I certainly prefer at least 5/8 with 6 or 7/8 being my favorites thus far. I know from previous posts that a shorter blade is preferred but I don't recall seeing width.

I would hate to be passing these smaller blades up, when they could be used by our shaving sisters. Of course some men may prefer the smaller blades as well. I have 4/8 that is a good shaver but I don't feel as comfortable with it as my larger blades.

I can and have had good shaves from smaller widths but I prefer at least a 5/8ths and a 6/8ths feels like perfection! They just seem to handle better!

When I started shaving with straights, I was sure a narrower blade would make me happier... as it turns out, I'm most comfortable with 5/8 or a little bigger. The other characteristics I prefer are: lightweight but balanced, round-point, and a relatively short blade (2.5" is about right for legs, 2" for more dangerous territory).

I use a 4/8, I also have a 5/8 but haven't used it yet as it needs honing but I love the feel of it in my hands. There are a few Gents who use the smaller size blade too - Ragnost is always on the look out for 4/8 razors, you could drop him a PM next time you get your hands on one.

As a guy new to this forum, I'm a bit confused here. Women don't grow beards so what is the point of having a straight razor at all?

i am somewhat familar with the "girly bits" but for the life of me i can't figure out how the heck you manouvera strait in such a restricted area....

Thank You Silver. I will look at the smaller blades a bit closer during my travels, and if a good one is to be found, I wil pass it on.

I have a couple of 4/8 razors but I prefer my 5/8 torrey's
