Thread: What does shave ready mean to you ladies?

So I got curious again. I don't shave my arms or legs unless I'm attempting to determine the sharpness of a razor. Now I'm going to try looking though a 20x loupe to make sure the bevel is set and restrict my tests to tpt to see how that goes. Anyway, in my experience, shaving fine arm hairs off is a good indicator, but not perfect and shaving thick leg hairs really doesn't tell me anything.

So I got to thinking... Ladies shave their legs and sometimes their arms. What does shave ready mean to them? Does it matter if the razor is sharp enough to shave a face with no irritation? I suppose I am asking, what is the bar against which your razors are measured?

Ummm.... as good as possible?
I mean it has something to do with durability.
Even if a blade cuts my hair easier than a bristle it should do that for a looooong time.
If I start out with something half way done, I have to redo it earlier.

I actually don't like my razors quite as sharp as JoeD does for his face. While leg hair can be thick it is not as dense as most beards. JoeD finishes his razors on the 12K Chinese. I finish mine on the 8K Norton and then the yellow coticule for polishing. I find it they are any sharper than that I am more likely to nick myself

I must admit I hadn't given this a lot of thought. So far I have been sticking to the same guidelines as you Gents but there has been blood shed a plenty too!

So now I'm wondering if Carrie is on to something here as leg hair is generally not as think or dense as facial hair can be.

Silver, only one way to find out.. Try one that has been finished on the 8K or the yellow coticule. I find that they shave really smooth for me. Everyone is different though. Really fine hair as well as really thick hair need the extra sharpness, but hair in the middle seems to cut well with something many would consider not so sharp
