Thread: Daughter's first DE shave

My 14 year old daughter was watching me shave with a DE and asked If I would teach her to use the razor I had bought her.

This was her first shave a couple of days ago. She did great with 0 nicks or cuts.

The set up you chose is a thoughful one, especially the razor/blade combo. It's gonna make the transition a fair bit easier overall.

My daughter had been complaining for years about cartridge costs(shocking eh?) and I gladly offered her a chance to try a DE. It was nuts..........took her all of 15 minutes to start figuring things out and another 3-4 shaves to mostly refine technique. Her progress sorta shocked me in a good way.

I used a brush to make up the lather(TOBS Rose SC) and no problems. I also gave her some brushless stuff(Cremo) that she didn't care for. She stopped using the brush though, and just applies the Taylors straight from the tub. Works well for her that way, which isn't surprising.

I hope your daughter sticks with this unusual and maybe even fun way to shave.

I hope so also. She loved applying the cream with the brush and said it felt good. She also wanted to know, if I was going to purchase her her own brush and if they made scented cream for females. That one didn't smell bad though, she said. She may continue the interest because she see's me shaving this way and talking about it all the time.

She also has aquired my interest in antique mall browsing. She asked if she found a handle she liked if I would put hair in it. Who knew?

You might look at www.eshave.com for some womens brushes. There used to be some translucent sorta material for the handles that looked pretty good and weren't real pricey. At one time they came in blue, green, and pink. No idea what the knot's like....sorry.

Heh, they also have some beautiful brushes with quite striking handle designs, as well as some interesting stands. Those brushes will all be on the expensive side, and come in various badger grades.

The Taylors is a very nice product in general, and maybe your daughter would like the rose scent. Otherwise, AOS makes a rose SC in a pump dispenser that gets nice reviews.

Well last night my daughter went for shave number 2. She was bored and not in a hurry so she asked if I would set he up with the gear again.

This time she asked if she could use the Cella. She loaded the brush really well and began to leg lather and then shave.

She didn't want me to watch but to be available to answer any questions.

The shave went without a hitch and she stated she liked the Cella better because as she put it, "It glides better especially by the knee's."
