Default Why do you like to cry?

For the ladies of this forum, I have question I hope can get answered. My wife, mother, sister, and almost all of the other women in my life (which is quite a few) love to watch movies that make them cry. (i.e. Steel Magnolias, Hope Floats, City of Angles, ...). I don't get it. Why do you love to watch movies that make you all depressed and cry? Aren't movies supposed to be fun, and uplifting, and an enjoyable experience? Please enlighten a poor soul that just does not understand that innate desire.

    Matt

Its an emotional release. The odd film makes me cry as well. The Green Mile gets me every time..!

I get the same thing playing guitar. Really pouring myself into the playing is a great release and totally unwinds me. And if I can do it at 100 watts then all the better...!

As far as playing the guitar, a very good female friend (have known her for almost 40 years now) mentioned that she prefers musicians because it's the one activity where men will show lots of emotion and not feel guilty or restrained.

I can recall my grandmother and mother used to always cry whenever they would chop up onions to add to supper.

I'm with Stubear on this. Emotional release. I'm a guy and I don't cry very often. But when my girlfriend finds a very personal and emotional song, even I can't help myself. Pure beauty. Some tears have to show.

Sometimes you can relate to and feel something you hear/see/feel and it just hits you. Nothing more - nothing less. But still strong.

By the way - Green Mile really hits hard from time to time.

    Marc.

(eyes rolling) have you tried Nair instead of straight razors?

    OK Girls & Guys...

My wife use to work at an eye doctors office and it was said to be a scientific FACT that the Optic Nerve is connected to the Anus...

If you need proof, just pull a BUTT hair and see if it doesn't bring a tear to your eye's...

Maybe not a tear. But the thought of someone pulling a butt hair certainly raises a strong laughter. Not my thing, but whatever floats your boat

But all these Nair/butt hair comments aside, can someone in here seriously say that they have not seen a movie/heard a song or something else that did not move them in some kind of way? That's pretty cold. Macho man or not.

No disrespect should be felt in this post, but the butt hair joke, was too fun not to use.

Sorry for interrupting this thread. I'll leave the question for the ladies for whom it was intended.
