Thread: This is why I am going to marry her

So over the last few months I have been slowly acquiring the supplies I will need to move to straight razor shaving. We are getting married in July so funding for new hobbies is severely limited. I started with a brush and the sample pack of shaving creams from Truefitt and Hill while still using my Mach 3. I also stole the soon to be wife’s graduation coffee mug for a shaving bowl. She didn't approve of this until she saw me whipping up some later which she thought was pretty neat. Then the first razor showed up and was sent off to be refurbished. The strop showed up a couple days ago. Yesterday, as has become our routine, I am creating a lather with one of the sample creams and she comes over to approve or disapprove of that days scent and says to me,
“When you get this straight shaving all figured out we will have to try shaving my legs”.
HOT DAMN. I had not even mentioned to her that there is a ladies forum and a whole group of ladies that already do this. She just thought it would be a cool thing to try. So I guess I have to add another notch in the tally of reasons to marry this girl.

A lucky man!! Congrats on the up coming marriage. Now first thing you need to do is tell her about the ladies corner here and get her to participate on her own. Having a significant other that approves of your hobby is great but one that participates in the hobby herself is even better and ensures that you will never get in trouble for bringing home more shaving related products.

That is a very pleasant chore to have, I'd say.

I think you should be honest with her from the start and tell her a man needs dozens if not hundreds of razors to do the odious task of shaving properly. She will love you for your honesty and forthrightness.

lucky! my girl does not enjoy any of my hobbies (especially shaving) accept music, and art (as long as she gets to claim dibs on the painting or drawing)

Great! What a wonderful thing! I have noticed just one problem, my wife and I both get ready at the same time and only have one bathroom, one mug, one brush, and one razor. We compete for the razor ( I still make up her lather). Well, once I get a few razors at least some of the problems can be avoided...

That is a good reason to marry her. May I suggest you point her in the direction of hones? One does need a wedding gift, birthday gift, christmas gift....anytime gift.

And....shaving the legs is a great time! I find it to be very rewarding.....enough said.

The Hekler - I let her know about the Ladies Corner and when she is ready to give it a try she is all about joining in and talking to some experienced ladies. I also let her know that it would be a long term project to buy many brushes, soaps, and razors until she found the one she likes. And if I must I would take all the ones she doesn't like off of her hands.

Nipper - I am pretty sure she already know I am full of it, but with the pretense of buying razors for her I might end up with a few extra.

Bondpunk - I got pretty lucky because she loves the outdoors so she is into most of my outdoor hobbies. Rock climbing, backpacking, hiking, fishing(she really loves ice fishing), etc. The only hobbies that really drive her nuts are my addiction to video games, and my desire to own many firearms.

Coachschaller - Getting ready at the same time is a great reason for you to get several more razors. Unfortunately my lady is not the best cook. She is pretty good at making Mexican food but that's about it. Fortunately I love to cook so it works out for me.

Maxi - I think I am going to have to slowly move towards hones. If I give her hone right off the bat I am pretty sure she will beat me for giving her what she will consider to just be a piece of rock. haha.
